Azure Power commissions its 90 MW solar project in Assam

India's leading sustainable energy solutions provider and renewable power producer, Azure Power, told the media that it has successfully commissioned the largest 90 MW solar power project in Assam.

Solar power is spread across four districts in Assam, including Udalguri, Kamrup, Nagaon, and Cachar.

The 90 MW capacity project has been commissioned in phases, and the final 25 MW was commissioned in Cachar.

The power generated from the plant is supplied to Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) under a long term power purchase agreement (PPA) for 25 years at a tariff of Rs 3.34 per KWh.

Post commissioning, the company now has an operational capacity of more than 2,900 MW of high-performing renewable energy assets in India.

CFO of Azure Power, Pawan Kumar Agrawal, said that the company had displayed tremendous dedication and tenacity in the considerable execution challenges. The solar project will go a long way in meeting India's clean energy targets.

He added that the Assam government aims to transform Assam into a sustainably developed state by 2030. This project is a step towards fulfilling this vision. In addition, to cater to the sustainability targets of the state government, the project will also help create a sustainable ecosystem by generating employment opportunities and revenue opportunities for the local population.
