Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) plans to open a road length of 1.8 km of the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) extension project by April.
The MMRDA plans on opening the 1.8 km length of one part of the SCLR extension project by April. The project is under construction on Hans Burga Marg from the Hotel Grand Hyatt and McDonald's junction, Raza Chawk, Santacruz. An official has stated that a part of phase 1 of the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) extension project is expected to be completed and opened for one-way traffic. The development has been confirmed by the MMRDA Commissioner, SVR Srinivas. The Santacruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) extension work involves an elevated corridor.The project is being executed by the MMRDA in two phases for decongesting Kurla as well as providing east-west connectivity through the current SCLR.The SCLR extension project’s construction began in 2016 with an approximate cost of Rs 481 crore.The initial deadline for the project was 2019 and has been delayed for a couple of years now.This opening will provide some relief to the commuters. The main purpose of this extension project is to decongest the huge traffic at the Vakola junction. It also aims to help the vehicular traffic related to the airport reach Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in just a few minutes. Image Source
