MoHUA approves 2.02 lakh houses construction under PMAY-U

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) approved the construction of 2.02 lakh houses across eight states under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U).

Bihar, Kerala, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan are the states in which the homes will be constructed.

The proposed houses would be constructed under the Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC) along with the PMAY-Urban mission’s Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) verticals.

The decision had been taken in the 59th meeting of the central sanctioning and monitoring committee (CSMC), chaired by MoHUA secretary Manoj Joshi under PMAY-Urban.

The issues pertaining to grounding and constructing houses in several states under different PMAY-Urban verticals were discussed by Joshi in the meeting.

He reviewed the pace of completion of different houses across states and also directed officials for the expedition of the grounding and construction process.

The construction of PMAY-Urban houses is underway in several stages. As of now, under PMAY-Urban a total of 115.4 Lakh houses have been sanctioned. Approximately, 95 lakh of them are grounded for construction while about 56.3 lakh are completed and also delivered to the beneficiaries.

Under the mission, a total investment of Rs 7.56 lakh crore has been made with Rs 1.89 lakh crore assistance from the center. So far, the assistance of Rs 1.25 lakh crore from the center has been released.
