Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar recently unveiled the state government's ambition to augment power generation by an additional 5,000 MW. Speaking in Chamarajanagar, he recounted his tenure as the energy minister, highlighting that during his leadership, power generation escalated from 10,000 MW to 23,000 MW. He also lauded the Pavagada solar park as a globally recognised model, showcasing successful implementation without disrupting farmers.
Addressing the tragic Chamarajanagar oxygen incident in May 2021, Shivakumar urged the district minister and medical education minister to ensure justice for the victims.
On the subject of political dynamics, Shivakumar responded to a meeting with BJP leader MP Renukacharya and CM Siddaramaiah, affirming the party's open-door policy. He emphasised that anyone wishing to join would be welcomed, reiterating the absence of any "Operation Hasta."
Taking a jab at BJP's state leadership, Shivakumar criticised the central leadership's treatment of state party members since the assembly election loss. He highlighted the lack of an opposition leader's selection and noted the perceived disregard for leaders.
