Telangana logistics policy receives government nod

The Telangana Cabinet approved the state’s Logistics Policy made by the Industries and Commerce department of the Telangana Government.

The policy aims to encourage the state’s logistics sector in the backdrop of industries, e-commerce and the services sector. The cabinet meeting took place at Pragathi Bhavan under the chairmanship of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said that amid the pandemic, the cabinet recognised the necessary work performed by the logistics sector in extending commodity service to the people.

It also identified that developing e-commerce segments use the logistics sector and increase their services worldwide.

The Cabinet opined that under this background, to send products and produce from the state to the international consumers, the urgent requirement is to encourage the logistics sector. It also recognised the significance of logistics growth as an extension of the additional commerce to the food processing segments.

According to the reports, the Cabinet has decided to develop basic infrastructure facilities in Cold storages, Godowns, Dry Ports, Truck dak parking and other additional amenities in the logistics sector. It also decided to establish a Dry Port in a big way in 1400 acres in the State (Multi-Model Logistic Park) under the PPA Mode.

Besides, the Cabinet also allowed setting up another two new Integrated Container depots, such as the one Concur ICD at Sanath Nagar, in coordination with the Customs department to promote more exports. It even sanctioned the decision to establish another 10 Integrated Parks across the state, same as Batasingaram.

The cabinet will also set up a Centre for Excellence for Skill Development in this sector with the help of TASK and international standards.

Moreover, a decision to develop Logistic Parks in each district in the state, including giving incentives to the entrepreneurs who will establish Multi-Model Logistic parks, Warehouses was taken by the cabinet.

Secretaries of each department who attended the cabinet meeting have submitted details of the employees in their departments and vacant jobs.
