In a major development at the World Economic Forum 2024, the Adani Group unveiled plans to invest Rs.500 billion over the next decade in establishing a 1 gigawatt (GW) hyperscale data centre in Maharashtra. This initiative underscores the group's commitment to harnessing the potential of the digital landscape and contributing significantly to the country's technological infrastructure. The substantial investment is poised to propel Maharashtra into a prominent position on the digital map, marking a significant step towards realising the state's digital aspirations. The project, powered entirely by renewable energy, aims to create 20,000 jobs and generate direct and indirect employment, contributing significantly to the economic landscape of the state.

The data centre powered by renewable energy will boost green energy infrastructure in Maharashtra and also aligns with its broader sustainability goals. As of 2023, Adani Electricity Mumbai supplied up to 38 per cent of electricity to Mumbai consumers from renewable sources with a target to reach 60 per cent by 2027.
