Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) Vice Chairman and managing director, Dwaraka Tirumala Rao issues orders for the purchase of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) for Road Transport Corporation (RTC) buses as well as hired buses from the private retail fuel filling stations.

On Monday, Tirumala Rao said that since the consumption of HSD for RTC buses is huge, oil companies are offering it to the Transport Corporation at a lesser price.

In recent times there has been a sharp rise in the cost of HSD has been noted in the past few days.

The rate at which oil companies are currently selling the HSD to RTC has increased in comparison with the selling price paid of retail fuel stations.

The difference in the price rate is approximately Rs 4.30. This price difference has been calculated for consumption of 7.30 lakh liter by the RTC per day. The additional cost amounts to about Rs 32 lakh per day. Rao said that the extra burden amounts to a total of approximately Rs 10 crore per month.

The order further stated that the measurement and quality are to be done only once the verification is completed under the vigilance officers’ supervision.
