Azure Power, India-based sustainable energy solutions provider and renewable energy producer, announced that its 90 MW solar power plant in Assam, the state's largest, has been successfully commissioned.
The state's 90 MW capacity is distributed over four districts: Udalguri, Kamrup, Nagaon, and Cachar. The project was completed in stages, with the last 25 MW being installed in Cachar. The plant's power is sold to Assam Power Distribution Company Limited under a long-term 25-year power purchase agreement for Rs 3.34 per kWh. As a result of this commissioning, Azure Power currently has an operating capacity of approximately 2,900 MW of high-performing renewable energy assets in the country. Pawan Kumar Agrawal, Azure Power's CFO, told the media that by 2030, the government of Assam aspires to make the state into a sustainable developed state. He said their endeavour is a step forward in realising the government's objective. In addition to meeting sustainability targets of the state, the project will also help in creating sustainable ecosystem by generating employment and revenue opportunities for local population. Agarwal added that they are really pleased of all of their teams, particularly those on the ground. He informed that in the face of significant execution hurdles, they have shown incredible devotion and tenacity. The project would contribute significantly to India's clean energy goals.
