Dharmavaram–Pakala railway line completes electrification

01 Aug 2022

With the completion of the Dharmavaram-Pakala section electrification, the entire Guntakal Division of the South Central Railway (SCR) is now electrified. The electrification of the final 50 km stretch between Tummanamgutta and Kalikiri is now complete, marking a significant step forward for the division in the electrification of railway lines across its network.

This has resulted in significant infrastructure improvements, particularly in the state's Rayalaseema region. It facilitates the introduction of electric traction in Rayalaseema's interior districts of Anantapur, Kurnool, and Chittoor. End-to-end electric traction is now available for trains bound for Tirupati, Katpadi, Chennai, and beyond via Dharmavaram, Kadiri, and Pakala.
