Gadkari commences NH projects worth Rs 80 billion in UP

The foundation stones for ten National Highways (NH) projects, amounting to over Rs 80 billion, were laid by Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, in Uttar Pradesh. It was mentioned that these projects consisted of five NH projects valued at Rs 22 billion in the Pratapgarh region, as well as five NH projects worth Rs 62.15 billion in the Deoria Region of Uttar Pradesh.

Gadkari stated that the widening of the 43 km stretch of NH-330 from Pratapgarh to Sultanpur, being constructed at a cost of Rs 12.90 billion, would reduce the travel time from Prayagraj to Pratapgarh via Ayodhya. Furthermore, he added that the construction of a 14-km bypass in Pratapgarh, estimated to cost Rs 3.09 billion, would commence soon.

Regarding road safety measures, Gadkari mentioned that Rs 270 million would be allocated for work such as the installation of street lights and bus shelters along NH-31. He also highlighted that the development of the cement plant, gas plant, bottling plant, and dairy milk factory would be accelerated by the construction of the Pratapgarh-Musafirkhana section.

The construction of a four-lane bypass spanning 22 kilometres in Deoria, which would cost Rs 17.50 billion, was stated to be awarded in August 2023. Gadkari emphasised that this project would benefit the underdeveloped areas of Deoria and Gorakhpur, as well as enhance Uttar Pradesh's connectivity with Bihar.

Gadkari added that these projects would stimulate investment in Uttar Pradesh and generate new employment opportunities. The stone-laying ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
