Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL) and Japan-based paint manufacturing company Nippon Paint (India), in a joint association, have painted the exterior walls of Wimco Nagar station to promote the "Green Chennai" cause.
The two firms had collaborated to paint the walls of CMRL stations to promote environmental protection and sustainable development. Similar work is in progress at the Kaladipet and Toll Gate Metro Stations in the city.
CMRL officials told the media that water conservation and pollution-free Chennai were the themes chosen for the Kaladipet and Toll Gate stations, respectively. The work at the Wimco Nagar station is complete, and at the other two stations, work will start soon and be completed in the next few weeks, a CMRL official said.
Nippon Paint's hi-tech and eco-friendly exterior paints had been used to beautify the Wimco Nagar Metro station.
CMRL and Nippon are working together to beautify public places and create awareness regarding environmental pollution and water conservation as part of the "Green Chennai" push.
