Construction work on the Metro corridor line in Gurugram is set to begin within a month, undertaken by the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA). The estimated cost for this project is around Rs 6,000 crore, and it is scheduled for completion by 2026.
Spanning a distance of 28 km, the metro line will link Huda City Centre to Cyber City. The Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) will oversee the construction of this metro line, which will commence from the Yellow Line at Huda City Centre and loop back to Cyber City, passing through a significant portion of Old Gurgaon.
The GMDA will be responsible for preparing the construction site, which involves relocating utilities along the corridor and clearing land for the project.
According to the detailed project report (DPR), the Metro line will encompass 27 elevated stations, including Sector 45, Cyber Park, Subhash Chowk, Udyog Vihar-IV, Udyog Vihar-V, Cyber City, and others. The state government will manage and operate this Metro line, marking it as the first Metro system in the city.
Once the project is finalised, the metro line will bridge the gap between old and new Gurugram, facilitating convenient transportation for residents in densely populated areas. Additionally, passengers will have the option to travel to the IGI airport by switching to the Airport Express line at Dwarka, further enhancing connectivity.
