Haryana CM greenlights key developmental projects

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has granted approval to an array of pivotal developmental projects, underscoring the acceleration of Gurugram's urban advancement. The 12th meeting of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), held late Saturday evening in Gurugram, served as the platform for these strategic decisions.

The budget for the fiscal year 2023-24 encompasses significant allocations for infrastructure development (including roads, water supply, sewerage, and stormwater management), with an allocation of Rs 5700.6 million. A further Rs 11.5177 billion is earmarked for capital projects. Notably, Rs 3 billion has been designated for health services pertaining to the Sheetla Mata Temple project. Urban environmental initiatives secure Rs 360 million, while Rs 5.38 billion is allotted for operation and maintenance.

For the ensuing annual budget, the GMDA foresees a revenue of Rs 20431.7 million from diverse sources. An additional sum of Rs 5.3123 billion is set to be derived from the existing corpus fund.

Among the endorsed projects, a new master water supply line extending over 20.50 kilometres garnered approval. With a budget allocation of Rs 1250 million, this line aims to fulfil water supply needs across multiple city areas and new sectors. Originating from Basai Water Treatment Plant Part II, the 200 MLD capacity line is designed to cater to sectors such as 101, 104, 108, 110, 110A, New Palam Vihar, Palam Vihar, Sector 23, and Cyber Hub. This comprehensive approach to water supply encompasses both the old and new sectors of the city.

Further, an administrative endorsement of Rs 1091.4 million was provided for the underpass construction at Vatika Chowk, part of the road upgrading project linking Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) from Faridabad Road to NH-48. The collaborative initiative between the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and GMDA, sharing costs equally, is set to enhance road connectivity. The meeting also encompassed discussions on drainage improvement strategies, road repair initiatives, and progress evaluations, among other crucial urban development subjects.
