For the construction of a Greenfield International Airport at Balh in Mandi district, the state government will carry out Social Impact Assessment for the purpose of land acquisition.

The state government will acquire over 2,868 bighas of land across Mohal-Jarlu, Chhatru, Kummi, DPF Dyoda, Syanh, Tawan and Dhaban in Balh tehsil for the project.

This airport would serve the larger interest of the state, besides serving as a base for the Indian Air Force as the area is close to Leh. According to sources, large aircrafts will be able to land at the proposed airport.
