Karnataka approves tracking devices in all transport vehicles

The Karnataka Cabinet approved the installation of location tracking devices and emergency panic buttons in all public and private transportation vehicles, with the goal of improving passenger safety. This project is being carried out in collaboration with the central government. The union government will contribute 60 per cent of the funds, while the state will contribute 40 per cent. Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister J C Madhuswamy stated that the cabinet has given administrative approval of Rs 203.6 million for this project, which will cover a total of 680,000 vehicles, both government and private and that they will be monitored from a central location once the installation is completed.
