Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister, Kerala, inaugurated seven mega projects at the Cochin International Airport (CIAL). At a ceremony conducted at CIAL, Vijayan officially inaugurated the Import Cargo Terminal, DigiYatra software, and Airport Emergency Services at the international airport. Additionally, he announced plans for the '0484' premium aero lounge, an airport intrusion detection system, and golf resorts. He also announced plans for the first phase of Terminal 3's development. Vijayan claimed that Kerala is providing the public with an alternative at a time when even the most important PSUs in the nation, like the airports, are being privatised. "We are currently residing in a period where even this nation's strategic public sector undertakings are being privatised. However, public sector organisations are thriving and safeguarded in Kerala. Even the public sector enterprises that the Centre had placed up for sale, we took over,? Vijayan remarked. He claimed that Kerala's PSUs offer a viable alternative to privatisation in that industry. According to Vijayan, the Indian aviation industry anticipates a 9.7% annual growth rate, and CIAL's terminal expansion is being put into place to meet future demands. The number of parking spaces will rise to 44 with the addition of the additional eight aero bridges. According to Vijayan's yesterday Facebook post, the planned aero lounge would feature 42 luxurious guest rooms, a restaurant, mini conference hall, board room, gym, and spa, among other amenities.
