KMRL Seeks Operators for E-Autorickshaw Feeder Services

Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) is taking strides towards bolstering last-mile connectivity for commuters with the introduction of more e-autorickshaws as feeders from Metro stations. In a bid to provide seamless, sustainable, and environmentally friendly transit options, KMRL has invited Expressions of Interest (EoI) from potential service providers to operate and manage e-autorickshaw services at select Metro stations.

The initiative aims to offer commuters comfortable, safe, and affordable connectivity to and from Metro stations, addressing the crucial aspect of the first and last mile of their journeys. According to the EoI document released by KMRL, the service providers selected will be granted feeder licenses to operate from and park on the Metro station premises during operating hours.

A total of 58 e-autorickshaws are slated to be introduced as part of this project, significantly enhancing accessibility and convenience for commuters. The stations set to benefit from these feeder services include Aluva, Palarivattom, Vyttila, Vadakkekotta, Petta, SN Jn, and Tripunithura. Among these, Aluva will see 10 e-autorickshaws, while Palarivattom, Vyttila, and Tripunithura will have 13, 13, and 15 vehicles respectively.

This move is aligned with KMRL's commitment to promoting sustainable transportation options and reducing carbon emissions. By integrating e-autorickshaws into the public transit network, KMRL aims to encourage more people to choose eco-friendly modes of travel while ensuring their convenience and comfort.

The introduction of e-autorickshaw feeder services is expected to not only enhance the overall commuting experience for passengers but also contribute to decongesting roads and promoting a cleaner environment in Kochi.

The deadline for submitting expressions of interest is yet to be announced by KMRL, but stakeholders and potential service providers are encouraged to participate in this initiative aimed at transforming Kochi's transportation landscape towards a more sustainable and commuter-friendly future.
