According to sources present at a meeting in Mumbai, chaired by Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and Revenue Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, it was mentioned that the Maharashtra government might consider offering relief to nazul property lessees who have violated lease conditions.
While the government appeared inclined to grant relief, it was clarified that the official announcement would only occur after the issuance of a GR.
BJP MLC Pravin Datke confirmed the development and stated that relief was being provided on three fronts. Datke explained, "The primary issue is that most lessees have violated their conditions by making alterations to the house's design. The government assures that no action will be taken against them."
He noted one exception, stating, "If individuals to whom residential property is allotted have converted them into commercial shops, they will be required to pay a penalty."
Another relief being considered by the government pertains to registration. Datke mentioned, "When the property becomes freehold, the owner must complete the registration process. The government is planning to ease this process as well." However, no specific details regarding the type of relief were available, and sources suggested that the registration fee would be relaxed.
