Metro Line 7 and 2A to begin trial run by October

01 Aug 2022

The Western Express Highway's Metro Line 7 (Dahisar E-Andheri E) and Link Road's Metro Line 2A (Dahisar-DN Nagar) are both 98 percent complete. According to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), which is in charge of implementing the two lines, the trial runs will begin in October of this year. The MMRDA hopes to begin the final stretch of commercial operations by December.

The 20-kilometer stretch was only started by the MMRDA in April of this year. An average of 30,000 people use the Maha. Mumbai Metro Operations Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL), which is in charge of operations and maintenance (O&M). There are 18 stations along the short span. The two metro lines can accommodate about 3 lakh passengers once they are fully functioning. There will be 30 stations along the entire line. Additionally, at the DN Nagar station, the brand-new Metro Lines 2A and 7 will connect with the current Metro One, which travels between Ghatkopar and Versova.

Additionally, the MMRDA is proposing a foot overbridge at Goregoan station on Metro Line 7 so that it can link to the train station in the western suburbs in order to ensure continuous connectivity. The MMRDA will soon announce a tender for the same. On October 11, 2015, both routes' foundation stones were laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The aforementioned line was slated to debut in the following year. Then, it was supposed to start in October 2020; however it was delayed to October 2020 because of time lost by the epidemic and workers who went home during the lockdown.
