The Tricity region, which consists of Chandigarh, Panchkula, and Mohali, is receiving the Metro system rapidly thanks to a government-owned consulting firm by the name of RITES. Here is all the information you require regarding the Tricity Metro project.

According to a recent statement from RITES, once the alternative analysis report (AAR) and detailed project report (DPR) are finalised by December 2023, construction is anticipated to begin in March 2024. The ambitious project is expected to provide residents and commuters in the Tricity area with a speedy and efficient mode of transport, which will be a great benefit. It is also anticipated to promote economic growth and create new jobs, according to a Financial Express article. A complete project plan, including its price, timetable, and technical specifications, will be provided by the DPR. The AAR will assess the viability of several metro alignment options. If the DPR is approved by the government, construction can begin. At a presentation, RITES presented its initial report for the Tricity Metro project.

The inception report is a crucial step in ensuring that everyone is on the same page with reference to the consultant's plan and schedule for conducting the evaluation.

Representatives from Punjab and Haryana also attended the conference, the report states.

The first phase to cover a significant area
The first phase of the Tricity Metro project will cover a vast area with a length of 77 kilometres. This would cover 35 kilometres in Chandigarh, 11 in Panchkula, 31 in Mohali, and 35 in New Chandigarh. The first phase of construction is anticipated to begin in 2027 and conclude in 2037. The original plan was for 66 kilometres of coverage in Phase 1, therefore this represents an increase.
