Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina are set to jointly inaugurate three Indian-assisted development projects on November 1, 2023, through a video conference. The projects include the Akhaura-Agartala Cross-Border Rail Link, the Khulna-Mongla Port Rail Line, and Unit II of the Maitree Super Thermal Power Plant.

The Akhaura-Agartala Cross-Border Rail Link, spanning 12.24 km, received Rs 3.92 billion in grant assistance from the Indian government, with a dual-gauge rail line in both Bangladesh and Tripura.

The Khulna-Mongla Port Rail Line Project, financed under a concessional Line of Credit from India, connects Mongla Port to Khulna's existing rail network, covering approximately 65 km of broad-gauge rail route.

The Maitree Super Thermal Power Plant, funded through Indian Concessional Financing, is a 1320 MW (2x660) Super Thermal Power Plant in Khulna, Bangladesh, developed as a joint venture between India's NTPC Ltd and Bangladesh Power Development Board. Unit II of the power plant is scheduled for inauguration, enhancing energy security in Bangladesh.
