Prime Minister Narendra Modi would lay the foundation of the Gurugram Metro project on February 16. The report mentioned that virtually, on the same day, PM Modi would lay the foundation for seven to eight projects, including the AIIMS Rewari at Majra Bhalkhi village.
The residents of Gurugram would have the opportunity to witness the live broadcast of the event. It is noteworthy that the Gurugram Metro project has been a longstanding demand of the city, and its approval was granted in June of the previous year. The project aims to connect the old section of the city to the metro.
Under this initiative, the metro's extension will occur from the Huda City Metro station, now referred to as the Millennium City Centre Metro station, to Cyber Hub. This 26.65 km stretch will also encompass the old Gurugram and is estimated to cost around Rs 540.52 million. The execution will be overseen by Gurugram Metro Rail, a collaboration between the Haryana and Central governments.
Regarding the AIIMS Rewari project, it is anticipated to span 210 acres with an estimated cost of Rs 12.31 billion. Notably, this will be the twenty-second AIIMS in India, and its construction was announced in Budget 2019-20. The hospital is planned to accommodate 750 beds, offer outpatient facilities for 1,500 patients daily, function as a medical college with 100 seats and 25 super specialty departments, and also serve as a nursing college. Originally planned for Manethi, the project's location was changed to Majra Bhalkhi due to Manethi falling within the Aravalli forest area.
