01 Aug 2022

In a bid to improve the city’s ranking in the Swachh Survekshan 2023, the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to rope in a private agency for documentation and planning of projects. The agency will work on bettering the status of sanitation, delivery of civic services, participation of citizens, besides creating awareness among residents.

According to PMC officials, the bidding process has been initiated to hire the agency and so far three companies have shown interest. The private agency will be selected within a week and they will be given the task to prepare plans and ensure its execution to improve overall ranking of Patna in the Swachh Survekshan by working on all the parameters underlined by the Centre.

PMC has started preparation after receiving guidelines from the ministry of housing and urban affairs. Few changes have been made in scoring pattern and more weightage has been given to plastic waste management, segregation of door-to-door waste collection and availability of public toilets. This year, cities in the country will be judged on 9,500 marks against last year's 7,500 in the survekshan.
