The Northern Railway's commendable initiative to diligently monitor the timely promotions of its employees has garnered attention and applause from the Railway Board. As a result, the Railway Board has extended the call to all other railway zones, urging them to establish their own mechanisms for ensuring the regular promotions of their workforce.
In a written communication obtained by PTI, which was addressed to all zones except the Northern Railway, the Railway Board emphasized the paramount importance of timely promotions managed by the HR department. Such a system not only aligns with employees' career aspirations but also serves the organization's best interests.
The directive, dated October 3, cited that numerous instructions have been issued by the Railway Board to guide Zonal Railways and Production Units in facilitating timely promotions. Furthermore, these entities have been urged to formulate selection calendars for the efficient monitoring of selection progress. The Railway Board has been actively soliciting this data at regular intervals to ensure compliance.
The Northern Railway's proactive approach in preparing a draft calendar to oversee all selections was specifically lauded by the Railway Board. In light of this, the Board has shared a copy of the draft calendar with other railway zones, encouraging them to adopt similar measures to streamline and ensure timely employee promotions.
