The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has approved Rs 6.99 billion to enhance a section of National Highway 58 in Palanpur, Gujarat. This funding will upgrade the Khokhra Gujarat Border - Vijayanagar - Antarsuba - Mathasur road segment.
NH-58 is a vital link between Gujarat and Rajasthan, connecting key landmarks such as the Ambaji Temple, Udaipur, Polo Forest, and several archaeological sites and tourist attractions. The proposed improvements for this road section involve transitioning from its current single/two-lane configuration to two lanes with paved shoulders, including realignment across 14 stretches traversing hilly terrain.
Additionally, MoRTH has announced a separate allocation of Rs 5.76 billion for the expansion of the Yedegowdanahalli to Arjunahalli segment of NH-373 in Hassan district, Karnataka. Spanning 22.3 km, this project is significant as it provides crucial access to popular tourist destinations, including Chikamagaluru, Belur, Halebeedu, and Shravanabelagola, as highlighted in the statement.
