Technical bid to be opened soon for road development project

The KIIFB-sponsored Pettah-Anayara-Oruvathilkotta project's technical bids will be opened. The Kerala Road Fund Board (KRFB) has invited bids for the project, which is expected to cost Rs 40 crore.

The government had approved funding for the project in the amount of Rs. 133.60 crore. According to the tender document, the length of the road for widening stretch 1 is 2.440 km, stretch 2 is 1.200 km, and the formation of new road is 170 m.

A footpath is proposed on both sides of the road, covering the width allotted by the Kerala water authority for laying pipes. (KWA). Pavement work for stretch 1 includes demolishing existing pavement and restoring it to the DPR level. On stretch 1, eleven bus shelters on either side of the road have been proposed.

Stretch 2 will have two bus shelters. The cost of shifting utilities for KWA will be Rs 3.3 crore, and shifting sewer lines will cost Rs 9.4 crore. The KRFB estimates a total cost of Rs 40.25 crore for the project, including KSEB utility relocation, which will cost Rs 1.72 crore. The project is expected to be completed in less than two years.

The district administration began distributing compensation to 614 landowners who gave up their land for the development of the Pettah-Anayara-Oruvathilkotta road in June.

Land from 614 owners on either side was acquired for road development. A total of 428 landowners in category A will receive a total of Rs 54 lakh. A panel of 19 advocates was formed to examine the land documents of owners who have given up their land for road development.
