Third Line between Manubolu & Gudur Commissioned by SCR

01 Aug 2023

In line with the Vijayawada-Gudur tripling project, it was announced by the South Central Railway that the completion and commissioning of the third line between Manubolu and Gudur railway stations, covering a distance of 7.4km, had taken place.

It was stated that the commissioning of the fresh line, falling within the Tirupati district, would contribute to the alleviation of congestion on the current saturated routes and the facilitation of smoother train operations.

In the wake of the tripling effort on this particular segment, an uninterrupted span of 127 km between Gudur and Singarayakonda was furnished with an additional third-line feature accompanied by the installation of electrification.

Positioned on the Grand Trunk route, situated along the Coastal region of Andhra Pradesh, the sector between Vijayawada and Gudur within the SCR network held a crucial role in establishing a connection between the northern and eastern sectors of the nation with the southern regions. The decision to initiate the tripling initiative stemmed from the increasingly congested state of the Vijayawada-Gudur route due to a steady upsurge in both passenger and freight train activities. Approved in the fiscal year 2015-16 with an approximate cost of Rs 32.46 billion, the tasks covering a span of 288 km were undertaken by Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL).

The General Manager of SCR, Arun Kumar Jain, extended his commendations to the officials of the Vijayawada Division and RVNL for their successful execution of the tripling and electrification undertakings spanning the Manubolu-Gudur segments.

He mentioned that the advancement of the third-line works between Vijayawada and Gudur was being accorded a higher priority. He affirmed that work was being concurrently conducted across all sections, and once the project culminates, the congestion experienced on the busy route would be alleviated, subsequently enhancing the operational efficiency of the train services.
