01 Oct 2023

Udaipur Cement Works Limited (UCWL), a subsidiary of JK Lakshmi Cement Ltd, has significantly boosted its cement production by commissioning a 1.50 MTPA Clinkerisation Unit in Udaipur. This expansion doubles UCWL's Clinker capacity to an impressive 3 MTPA, aligning with its long-term goal to meet evolving cement consumption patterns in its operational areas.

Expanding Capacity and Meeting Demand: UCWL's growth is driven by the availability of land and necessary limestone reserves at its existing mines. Anticipating a notable surge in cement demand in the coming years, this expansion positions the company to serve a larger customer base.

CEO's Perspective: Shrivats Singhania, Director & CEO of Udaipur Cement Works Limited, highlighted the need to adapt to market dynamics. He emphasised the expansion's role in ensuring a resilient supply chain to cater to increasing demand. By the end of FY 23-24, UCWL's total cement capacity is expected to more than double, reaching 4.7 MTPA from the existing 2.2 MTPA.

Balanced Growth and Commitment: UCWL's commitment to systematic growth and creating value for all stakeholders, including employees, customers, and the community, remains unwavering.

Funding and Strong Brands: The expansion was funded through a combination of debt and equity. UCWL boasts two reputable brands in its portfolio - "Platinum Heavy Duty Cement" and "Platinum Supremo Cement," catering to various construction needs and roofing solutions. Both brands have established a strong presence in Central, West, and North India.

Sustainability Initiatives: UCWL is known for its dedication to renewable energy and environmental sustainability, with a 1 MWp Floating Solar Power Plant in Rajasthan, a first in the state and the entire Indian Cement Industry. The company now meets nearly 50% of its power requirements from renewable sources. Additionally, UCWL actively engages in corporate social responsibility through welfare schemes like "Ajivika," benefiting underprivileged women and children near its plant.
