State Housing Minister, Atul Save informed that the forthcoming housing policy anticipated to be finalised by November and will prioritise the creation of affordable and sustainable housing solutions.

He mentioned that his department is actively seeking input from a variety of stakeholders to ensure a policy that caters to the needs of the people. "We've conducted three meetings dedicated to formulating this policy, addressing various aspects such as affordable housing and urban redevelopment. We are actively engaging with stakeholders including architects, structural engineers, and other professionals in the housing domain to gather perspectives. The efforts are on-going and we anticipate that the policy will be ready within the next two months," he disclosed during a media interaction. The previous housing policy was crafted in 2015.

The minister underscored his commitment to simplifying the approval process, responding to the demands of potential homebuyers. The previous housing policy also emphasised the streamlining of approval procedures. The upcoming housing policy discussions encompass subjects like the establishment of specialised townships, revisions to the Rent Control Act, resolution of obstacles in slum redevelopment, and the refinement of redevelopment policies. These matters will once again undergo assessment under the current policy, according to a senior official from the state housing department who is a member of the new housing policy committee.
