UPSRTC selects NEC for smart transport project

NEC Corporation India (NEC India) has been selected as the master system integrator by UPSRTC (Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation) for the VLT-PSIS (Vehicle Location Tracking-Passenger Information System) project under the Nirbhaya fund.

The project’s objective is to improve bus safety and passenger experience with AIS 140-based VLT devices, emergency buttons, and real-time tracking. It encompasses a state-of-the-art ICCC solution and a cloud platform for software applications, offering route management, fleet monitoring, and passenger information through a mobile app.

Yajuvendra Kumar, General Manager (IT) at UPSRTC, conveyed the government’s dedication to creating secure and advanced public transport conditions in Uttar Pradesh. He acknowledged NEC India’s proficiency and competitiveness in the field of Integrated Transportation Systems and expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with NEC for the successful implementation of the VLT-PSIS project.
