The Uttar Pradesh government is actively pursuing a comprehensive plan to transform all 762 urban local bodies in the state, aiming to elevate it into a trillion-dollar economy within the next five years. Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state's municipal corporations, including the ten smart cities, are undergoing rapid development to become safe and intelligent urban centres.
Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra highlighted the government's focus on sustainable growth, emphasising the interconnected pillars of social, environmental, and economic development. The state government's approach aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi?s ?Mission to Movement?, concentrating on education, healthcare, employment, business, infrastructure, clean water, healthcare facilities, electricity, roads, and housing.
Central to this vision is the concept of 'smartness' defined by efficiency and optimal resource utilisation. Technology integration, exemplified by the Integrated Control and Command Centre (ICCC) in all smart cities and municipal corporations, played a crucial role during the COVID-19 pandemic. The government emphasises public participation in developmental projects, encouraging awareness of environmental concerns and aligning development with traditional Indian values.
Uttar Pradesh, blessed with a network of perennial rivers originating from the Himalayas, faced the challenge of pollution and neglect. Thanks to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's efforts, over 50 rivers have been rejuvenated and neglected ponds and lakes have been transformed into vibrant Amrit Sarovars. The government is committed to eco-friendly living, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi?s goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2070. Emphasising the principles of reducing, reusing, and recycling resources, the government seeks to instil environmental sustainability through behavioural change.
In the realm of economic sustainability, the government encourages innovation and entrepreneurship. A surge in youth-driven innovation, spanning sectors like technology, horticulture, automobile, power, roads, and real estate, is propelling the state forward. The government envisions a harmonious balance between innovation, society, and the environment, focusing on the holistic sustainable development of Uttar Pradesh's society, environment, and economy.
