Vedanta’s aluminium output up by 2 per cent

Zinc mined metal output in India increased by 3 per cent to 255,000 tonne during the July-September quarter, compared to 248,000 tonne during the same period the previous fiscal. Better grades and higher mill recoveries drove the performance. According to the company's statement, first-half mined metal production increased by 8 per cent YoY due to an increase in ore production, which was further supported by better grades and improved operational efficiency. In line with the ramp-up at Gamsberg, South Africa, the company's overall international zinc production increased 35 per cent YoY and 9 per cent QoQ to 74,000 tonne. During the quarter, the company's overall average gross operated production fell 15 per cent YoY to 140,471 BOE/D in the oil and gas segment.
