To encash the rapid growth in cement consumption in southern markets, Chennai-based Chettinad Cement Corporation, a Rs 1,142 crore company controlled by M A Ramaswamy & Associates, is ramping up its capacity. The company has brought on stream an additional 2 mn tonne of capacity in the Q4 of FY09 at Ariyalur district, Tamil Nadu. This has doubled its total installed capacity to nearly 4 mn tonne.
In addition, the company will soon add another two mn tonne and the full benefit of these expan-ded capacities will be felt from FY10 and onwards.
