Einsite launches Equipon App for smarter equipment and fuel management in the construction industry.
Einsite, a technology start-up with an aim to digitise the construction industry, is launching its project management products for the Indian construction industry after three years of product development and testing. Founded by brothers Rajiv Reddy and Anirudh Reddy, of the Gayatri Projects' business family, Einsite aims to use cutting-edge technologies like IoT (Internet-of-Things), data science and computer-vision to solve burning problems being faced by contractors, project managers and equipment operators in the construction industry.
End-to-end solution
Using Gayatri Projects as a launchpad, Einsite has built an end-to-end project management platform to monitor and efficiently manage the entire work-site. Its IoT devices capture real-time data from all the plants, machinery, equipment and vehicles on a construction site, and its cloud-based software uses all of this data to provide actionable insights to project staff. These insights have helped Gayatri track and reconcile all the usage of materials and machinery on three of its major highway construction projects in Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Harayana. Two of these three projects have already been completed, ahead of schedule, and with higher profit margins than estimated.
After the successful implementation in Gayatri, Einsite is now ready to offer its technology to all contractors, sub-contractors, and even equipment owners and operators. "We do not want to restrict our technology to large, professionally-run construction companies; in fact, I strongly believe that the potential positive impact will be greatest for the smaller contractors and equipment owners," said Anirudh Reddy, CEO and Co-Founder, Einsite, talking about the company's strategy to target the bottom of the pyramid in the Indian construction sector.
The focus
Talking about the challenges in technology adoption, Rajiv Reddy, Co-Founder, Einsite, remarked, "Despite our successful implementation of an end-to-end project management platform, we have realised it might be better to start with small changes, rather than trying to upend the entire mode of operations overnight!" Keeping this in mind, the Einsite team has decided to start off by launching a trimmed-down product, Equipon, which will focus on equipment usage, fuel consumption and equipment maintenance.
Once it is launched in mid-May, users will be able to download the free app from the Google Play Store and enjoy essential functionality even without an IoT device. For more advanced features, the user can request an upgrade on the app, and the Einsite team will follow up with the next steps for an effortless IoT set-up. "We want our potential customers to be able to get a taste of our offerings in a cost-free and effort-free manner; once they are comfortable and happy with the Equipon app, they can upgrade to IoT, and eventually to the complete Einsite platform," remarked Anirudh Reddy.
One of the key features of Equipon is a smart Fuel Logger, which utilises image processing algorithms to convert photographs of the equipment odometer and fuel-pump guage to create a reliable and accurate fuel consumption log. "Every project manager, in companies of all sizes, worry about fuel consumption, pilferage and wastage. Equipon is thus focusing squarely on this burning need of the industry," explained Rajiv Reddy.
While Equipon is being launched in India, Einsite is planning to set up a US operation by the end of the year. Einsite is also being advised in the US by Professor Martin Fischer, one of the leading global experts in construction-technology, and a member of the Civil Engineering department of Stanford University.
