Tell us about the batching plant launched at Excon?
Gopal: Ajax Fiori has been producing and selling its batching plant for more than 20-25 years, and we have been constantly trying to capture the aspirations of customers. Addressing customer aspirations, this new product can be transported in a single trailer as opposed to batching plants that traditionally require two trailers. The whole plant can be fully dismantled, folded, mounted on a trailer and transported. Also, it can be installed at site in a quick manner.

Your primary focus is on meeting customer needs.
Gopal: Ajax Fiori has always been a forward looking company in terms of investing capabilities and facilities to capture the voice of customer. We have a robust IT and CRM in place, and we encourage customers to share their inputs on our CRM portal. In that way, we are able to to stay ahead of the curve in creating solutions on our drawing board.

What is the emphasis you lay on R&D?
Vijay: Engineering is one of our pillars. We could call it engineering or research and development, but it is broadly about finding new solutions for the customer. We are in fact working towards strengthening the engineering function with the intention of finding new solutions for customer.

What is your expectation for the year 2016?
Vijay: For the next five years, we are looking to reach Rs 1,000 crore. At present, we are in the region of about Rs 350 crore.

Any special strategies that you are applying to achieve this?
Vijay: One of the major initiatives we have taken is to considerably enhance our distribution through appointing dealers around India. We have already started this process over the last six months, and over the next 18 months will cover most of the country.
