Centre chalks out plans to develop Paradip into a Smart Township

Keeping in mind the developing port and industrial area of the coastal city, the Central Government has plans for a Smart Township for Paradip. The Union Transport minister Nitin Gadakari has reportedly announced that the Centre has chalked out various plans to develop the city’s infrastructure.

As per reports, the proposed township will have multi-modal logistics parks (MMLPs), subsidised hosuing under PM Awas Yojana (PMAY) as well as industrial parks, water management system, waste recycling centre and creek development programme.

With the industrial development of the coastal city, the plans involves that of transforming Paradip into a smart township.

Further, Rs 15 lakh crore will be invested under the Sagarmala programme, of which Rs 4 lakh crore will be allocated for port mechanisation and modernisation. Moreover, Rs 1 lakh crore has been provisioned for road connection to the ports. 

Besides, the reports submitted by Ved Prakash Committee regarding the development of super specialty hospitals and medical college for the port town are also being studied.
