In Bihar, foundation has been laind for a new 552.3 km road on porous Indo-Nepal border and when completed it would help security personnel of Shashtra Seema Bal (SSB) to guard the border more effectively. The foundation was laid by Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde in the presence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at Supual on June 25. The two-lane road, which will be parallel to east-west corridor, is first on the unfenced Indo-Nepal borders and would allow SSB personnel reach border outposts faster and keep a close vigil on borders.

Similar roads would be constructed more in other states which have borders with Nepal, Shinde said at the foundation laying function. The porous Indo-Nepal borders have been witnessing rampant trade in fake currency and illegal foreign goods.

The detailed project report of the road at Supaul is ready and work will start soon, Pratya Amrit, Secretary in the Road Construction Department, which is constructing the road, said. The Bihar government has acquired 111 acres for the project.
