MAPS second unit restarts generation

The second unit at Madras Atomic Power Station (MAPS), which was shut down for maintenance and surveillance tests, has been restarted by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL).

The plant is now feeding 110 MW to the grid. However, plans to increase this generation to 150 MW are underway. NPCIL has two units at MAPS, located at Kalpakkam, arou­nd 80 km from Chennai, ge­ne­rating around 150 MW each.
