01 Feb 2021

Maharashtra’s energy department would spend Rs.25 bn per annum for infrastructure development for state-owned distribution company Mahavitaran (MSEDCL). Of this, Rs.15 bn would be for energisation of agriculture pumps by conventional methods and Rs.10 bn for strengthening infrastructure in industrial and urban areas. At the same time, in addition to this, the government would implement the new agriculture and renewable energy policies in which solar-based agriculture pumps would be installed and solar power would be made available to farmers during day time. The funds would be spent for infrastructure development
including erection of new substations, installation of distribution transformers and construction of HT and LT lines. MSEDCL has also been directed
to regularise all unauthorised agriculture pump connections within 30 m distance from electric supply pole.
