SECI extends deadline for bids for solar projects in Leh & Kargil

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has extended the bid submission deadline to January 31, 2021 for its tender for the selection of solar power developers for setting up 7,500 MW (7.5 GW) of grid-connected solar power projects, including implementation of power transmission and evacuation infrastructure, in Leh and Kargil districts of Jammu & Kashmir. The projects are a part of the scheme approved by the government for setting up 23 GW grid-connected solar PV projects in the Leh and Kargil regions. The total capacity is to be implemented in several phases, the first phase being a 2,500 MW grid-connected capacity at Suru in Zanskar, 245-km east of Kargil, and 5,000 MW capacity at the Morey plains, some 215-km east of Leh.
