Tata Power told to hand over land to Adani for Vikhroli substation

The Maharashtra government has asked Tata Power to immediately hand over land at Vikhroli to Adani Electricity Mumbai (AEML) for a 400-kV substation as there had been no movement on the project since 2009. AEML has been told to complete the project by 2023, which will increase Mumbai’s power supply by 1,500 MW. This comes after top-level meeting in the wake of a rare, hours-long power outage in the metropolis earlier in September.  In 2018 the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission decided to close the project and invite fresh, tariff-based bidding, and the project was eventually awarded to AEML.
