Union Cabinet has approved the second phase of the Green Corridors project worth Rs120 bn

Phase-II of the Green Energy Corridor (GEC) has been approved by the Union Cabinet . The projects in this phase will be set up in seven states to help with renewable energy transmission. The state-owned Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) built inter-state transmission projects in Phase I of the GEC, and certain projects were granted to private entities through competitive bidding. Phase-II will add approximately 10,750 km of transmission lines and roughly 27,500 MVA of substation transformation capability. The current phase is expected to cost Rs 120 bn. Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh will benefit from the scheme, which will assist grid integration and power evacuation for about 20 GW of renewable energy power projects.
