City buses in Guwahati to be converted to electric and CNG buses

In a recent announcement by the Assam Government, all public buses in Guwahati will soon be converted to electric and CNG-fueled vehicles with the aim to ensure a lower environmental impact. Running city buses on diesel has an unfavourable pollution impact, and it is believed that with this initiative, Assam will be able to make a good contribution to the worldwide fight against global warming. Currently, 799 buses ply the city's roads. Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) owns 268 of the total, including 25 pink buses.
