The Gujarat Government has proposed to upgrade the Ahmedabad-Viramgam-Maliya four-lane state highway into a national highway. The 188 km long road that reduces the distance between Ahmedabad and Kutch by 80 km is likely to be rendered to the National Highway Authority of India. Besides this, the road will connect Gujarat's emerging industrial hub Sanand to some of the major ports in the state including Kandla and Mundra.
