Upgradation of Iran´s Chabahar port will be sought after by India´s Shipping Ministry soon. A grant of $85 mn will be requested for the port that will be considered as an alternative trading route with Afghanistan and central Asian nations. Operated by a special purpose vehicle by the JNPT and Kandla Port Trust, the capacity of the port is expected to increase to 12.5 mn tonne.
