The Chennai Metro Rail (CMRL) to conduct a feasibility study for the introduction of a suitable type of Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) in consideration of the conditions of the Trichy city. Trichy, Tirunelveli, and Salem were the cities that had been selected by CMRL for the study. With the proposed MRTS feasibility study, the development project area along with public transport routes shall be mapped for a better understanding of the public transport system. Further, the travel demand for almost 30 years will be calculated. The CMRL has floated e-tenders on a single stage from eligible consultants.
