Kerala approves semi-high speed rail project

01 Jul 2020

The semi-high speed rail project named ‘Silver Line’ has been approved by the Kerala Government with a budget of Rs.660 bn. This project is seen as a game-changer to revamp infrastructure and boost economic development.

It would decrease the travel time from the state’s northern tip, Kasargod district, to the southernmost district of Thiruvananthapuram to just four hours from 12 hours at present. The state cabinet has passed an alignment and DPR for the project. The state will seek funds from financial institutions and the nationalised banks for the project’s land acquisition.
