Gas Project Adds 13,480 PNG Connections in City

The ongoing city gas distribution project in Thiruvananthapuram has delivered 13,480 piped natural gas (PNG) connections so far. THINK Gas, formerly AG&P Pratham, plans to add 6,000 more connections by September to expand its reach across the capital.
Active development is underway in areas such as Sreekaryam, Edavacode, Ulloor, Akkulam, Anamugham, Kadakampally, Attipra and Kulathoor. A delay of 2,000 connections in Sreevaraham, Palkulangara and Perunthanni occurred due to pending road-cutting approvals. The pipeline along National Highway 66 is scheduled for completion by May 31.
The Thonnakkal plant, with higher capacity than the Kochuveli facility, will serve Murukkumpuzha and Pallipuram. Around 500 homes in Mangalapuram panchayat, including the Pallipuram Central Reserve Police Force camp, are already connected, with completion due by July.
New compressed natural gas (CNG) stations are being established in Vizhinjam, Kamaleswaram and Nalanchira, raising the district total to 20 outlets. THINK Gas has invested Rs seven billion to lay 584 km of Medium Density Polyethylene pipelines and 48 km of steel pipelines, using horizontal directional drilling to minimise road disruption.
