NDMC to upgrade four major parks under Smart City projects

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) aims to develop four significant parks, Nehru Park, Sanjay Park, Lodhi Garden and Talkatora Garden, into world-class facilities and select a consultant for the purpose.

The Smart City project is likely to be achieved in the financial year 2022-23.

Satish Upadhayay, NDMC Vice-chairman, told the media that while parks and gardens in the NDMC area are already built and popular among morning walkers, the project will strive to make the facilities reach international standards.

He further said that there are so many views for improving services without compromising the greenery at these sites, like adding smart irrigation, musical fountains, coffee shops and happiness areas.

According to the officials, these facilities will draw more and more people across all age groups.

A cycle track will be built about Nehru Park for all the fitness freaks. Facilities comprise smart irrigation through drip and sprinklers, musical fountains, smart lighting, manicured lawns, open gyms, coffee shops and a happiness area. This project is a part of the budget for the coming financial year.
