Railways approves Rs 2.12 Bn for Gandhinagar Jaipur redevelopment work
The Gandhinagar Jaipur railway station is being redeveloped with world-class amenities under the Amrit Station Scheme, with the Railways approving Rs 2.12 billion for this project. Construction is progressing rapidly, with significant achievements like the recent girder launch for a massive 72x48 meter air concourse, the first of its kind in Indian Railways.
This concourse will include facilities for passengers such as a waiting room, shopping complex, cafeteria, and game zone, accessible to both passengers and the public.
The station redevelopment includes the construction of two new buildings, featuring areas for arrivals, departures, security checks, and a help desk.
Additional amenities such as unreserved waiting rooms, executive lounges, modular toilets, and accessible pathways like lifts and escalators are being added. Green building practices will be used to reduce energy consumption, with features like renewable energy sources, waste disposal systems, and rainwater harvesting.
Additionally, North Eastern Railway has arranged special trains for Chhath Puja, ensuring passengers can travel comfortably. Enhanced holding areas, extended seating, public announcement systems, and CCTV monitoring have been established at key stations to manage the high passenger volume.
